Huron-Wendat Band Council
The Huron-Wendat Nation Band Council is where political decisions are made and it is the organization that governs the Huron-Wendat Nation. It is intended to represent, defend and develop the rights and collective interests of the Nation and those of its members with respect to the general public, governments, other First Nations and all organizations or institutions. The Council is formed of eight family circle Chiefs of the Nation and a Grand Chief. The Council is responsible for providing public services to its members.

What does GV mean? The Huron-Wendat reserve has always been recognized for the quality and reliability of the traditional snowshoes they have produced. Many companies such as Gros-Louis Snowshoes, which was owned by Mr. Antoine Gros-Louis and started manufacturing in 1959, have been in operation for a long time. In 1982, Mr. Maurice Vincent partnered with Mr. Antoine Gros-Louis and the GV brand name was created (Gros-Louis & Vincent). In 1983, Mr. Maurice Vincent became the sole owner of the company and the name became GV SNOWSHOES.

Sur la base d’une entente avec le gouvernement du Québec, le Conseil de la Nation huronne-wendat (CNHW) est responsable de la gestion des ressources fauniques du Tourilli depuis 1987. Bien que restreint comparativement au territoire ancestral des Hurons, ce territoire constitue une amorce de la mise en application d’une approche d’aménagement intégré des ressources. En effet, la mise en valeur concomitante de l’ensemble des ressources de ce territoire vise à maximiser la création d’emplois dans une approche de développement durable.
